We Still Love Our Panthers

Friday night was a loss for our JV Football panthers, but not entirely. Although it was a big loss, the fans were there supporting our great team and cheering them on through everything.

“I was at the game, yeah, and we lost. That really sucked, but you know I’m still glad I went because football games are fun and it’s always fun cheering our team on, regardless of how we do,” Emilia Martinez (12).

Winning all the time doesn’t make a great team, great sportsmanship does. We have a supportive crowd and fan base and all our fellow panthers need to know is: stick with the paw and work together, and regardless of what happens, it’ll always be a win for us.

Pet of the Week

SOMETIMES, WE ALL NEED AN ANGEL....
The world is crazy. It can move fast; overwhelm us all. Sometimes life can be just plain paralyzing. Devastating. Discouraging.
SPIKE knows all about this kind of life -- and his story is utterly heart-breaking, friends.
SPIKE is a 13 years young (he IS a Chihuahua after all -- he still has quite a few years of life ahead of him!) and a whopping 5.5 pounds of sensitive, sad, sympathetic sweetness.
SPIKE is shamelessly smitten with people and will bond hard and heavy with his MUCH NEEDED ANGEL.
What we like to stress here is that YOU could be that angel.....and HE NEEDS YOU.
SPIKE comes with some issues, sure -- but he also comes with melting eyes, unconditional love, and a loyalty that quite frankly blows our minds.
Here's the deal: SPIKE has, well, how should we say this? Let's just say SPIKE has senior-wee-little-dog-teeth. They are okay, don't get us wrong -- but his human might want to brush those toofers as much as possible in order to maintain a healthy mouth. He also has chronic paraphimosis. Just look it up.
Dude --he CAN'T help it!!!!

SPIKE also has some kidney issues so will need to be on a special food called Science Diet k/d in order to maintain a robust system. There are some toothpick legs as well, but those are totally manageable. Those melting eyes? Yes, a wee bit of nuclear sclerosis as well as some teensy growths (normal for his age) on his bod. BUT..........SPIKE is the ultimate in easy-to-live-with-no-drama-no-cray-cray-issues-can-we-just-say-the-categorical-super-duper-easy-peezy-lemon-squeezy-acclimate-easy-to-his-new-forever-home-dog. Like -- totally as easy as it gets. Here is a breakdown of SPIKE'S life since January of 2016:1/8/16 - Owner relinquishment, owner moving. 4/29/16 - adopted 8/5/16 - relinquished back to us because owner having landlord issues -- owner was absolutely grief-stricken. So.......see why SPIKE needs that angel right about now? Are you that angel he (and we!) so desperately need and want? SPIKE deserves the ultimate committed home that will allow him to live out the rest of his Chi years with creature comforts and doting humans. We promise your life will never be the same....and karma? Man, if you take SPIKE in to your world, you will have that in spades.......SAVE SPIKE. Let's make this go viral, people.....It's always a great day to adopt a senior! SPIKE is available for adoption and unconditional love at the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society located at 1687 W. Stowell Road in Santa Maria. Or, call us at (805) 349-3435 and we will do our best to not bawl our eyes out when you inform us you saw this post and you are about to make us all believe in the human race again. Or, visit our webpage at www.smvhs.org to look at a few more super cute photos of this sweet senior!
