Here lies the man of my dreams

Scarred and skinned to the tendon.

I told him, he shouldn't play around

With fire.

To his children, the ones he bared

With women who spoke too soon

Of his charm.

I told them I loved them. But in

My reflection, in the mirror, I can't

Say too much of myself either.

I flatter the shoes I walk in, because

When you kiss my heels, there

Is only gold in my step.

Here lies the man of my dreams, with

His hands who shook too hard when

I held him.

I didn’t know anger could seep

Through blood. I am an infinite disk

Of silver, a platter of your favorite food

Poisoned.

And I have no more to say than to

Tell you "here lies the man of my dreams."
