Panther Football Off to a Great Start!
Varsity Panthers Tame Titans 35-21
JV Panthers kick off the season with their first win against Nipomo . Adrian Garcia #2 made the first touchdown of the night. By halftime Panthers were up 21-0. Jason Vaguera #15 made the final touchdown of the game setting the final score 35-7.
" I feel like winning the first game is always a good way to start out. I think JV will actually do good this year. We have a lot of size, we can run the ball and definitely pass . And If we stay focused and keep our head in the game we should succeed. Tonight was definitely a team effort and our offensive line did great."
-Assistant coach Michael Valero
JV Panthers Crush Titans 35-7
Last Friday was Pioneer Valley's first football game of the year, against Nipomo High School. Varsity gave it their all, as they do in every other game they play, and gave the audience an exciting show. The section where students tend to sit and where spirit usually flies (literally), also known as The Jungle, was filled with great enthusiasm and cheers. Though there was a short time of disrespect and unnecessary behavior (see tomorrow's issue), the home bleachers managed to keep it together and continue cheering on their hardworking, strong football players. Ending the night with a score of 35-21, the Panthers took the win! Great job Panthers!
"[I love] the excitement, the energy, and hanging out with friends." -Tony Murillo (12)
"This is the first football game I've been to, and I'm liking it so far. I'm probably going to come a lot." -Jesus Campos (9)
"A lot of underclassmen actually got very involved. I'm really surprised. I feel like [the game] went by really fast." -Eric Renardo (12)
What do you think band brings to the football games?
"I think band brings a lot of energy because we play songs like fight song and power drive and that gets the crowd pumping especially when cheerleaders preform with us."
Is there anything new this year in band that wasn't done last year?
" Me! Haha, but we're trying to use more visuals so for example when you see our horns moving side to side that's a visual. It's supposed to be appealing and look pretty."
-Giovanni Medina ( 11th grade)
What do you think color guard brings to the games?
"It always brings something new every year. I mean this year as everyone knows we dabbed and that was very interesting for everyone. We bring a lot of color and visual effects to not only our show but our school. That's why we use our school colors for our flags to show our school pride."
Is there anything new this year in Color Guard that wasn't done last year?
"This year Color Guard actually became its own club. Before we were kind of part of band. You know it was just an under the covers thing but now we're our own club and we make our own money. We do a lot of things differently now just in the way we work as a team. We're more of a democracy than a monarchy.”

"Life is too beautiful and complex to be just mere coincidence" -Andrew Eisner (12)
"To be in FCA doesn’t mean you have to be an athlete and not even a Christian; all it means is that you want a relationship with Jesus." -Jose Aguilera (12)
-Story by Brendan Araki-Lopez
"As a born again believer, I am blessed to have the privilege to teach the word of God to students who are interested in the Bible. The reason I do FCA is because I have a deep passion and relationship with Jesus Christ and I want to encourage others to enjoy that same relationship." -Mr. Ramos
No Book Left behind: Dr. Seuss Unpublished
A never before seen picture book by Dr. Seuss! This lost artifact was published by Random House Children's Books.
Theodor Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss, is an author of 46 children's books including: Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Dr. Seuss unfortunately passed away during 1991 at age 87. His final book, "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" came out 25 years ago.
Geisel's widow, Audrey Geisel, found lost illustrations in their La Jolla, California, home soon after her husband died. She discovered the illustrations in 2013 while cleaning out his office. "While undeniably special, it is not surprising to me that we found this, because Ted always worked on multiple projects and started new things all the time," Audrey Geisel said in the release.

Cathy Goldsmith, Dr. Seuss's former art director, said she believes Geisel wrote: "What Pet Should I Get?" between 1958 and 1962. "The brother and sister in the book are the same as those in his bestselling Beginner Book 'One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish,' which was published in 1960," Goldsmith said.

In the new tale by Dr. Seuss, a brother and sister visit a pet store, but they don’t know what pet to get. The siblings feel like they just can’t choose a furry companion to take home! The tale captures a classic childhood moment of choosing a pet, and uses it to illustrate a life lesson in our minds.

Look out for Dr. Seuss’s new hardcover book! It was released on July 28, 2015 and priced for $17.99 in stores and online. This is especially exciting for those Dr. Seuss fans and collectors. As a matter of fact, they will be additionally adding a new book to their collection.
