Varsity Football Breaks in the New Season Against Bishop
Last Friday our Varsity Football team kicked off the start of the year with a scrimmage game against Bishop Diego! All the players were excited and were ready to start the season!
"I believe in the Panthers. They're going to do great this year! I think more freshman are going to come out to the games. We're going to have food for them and everything they'll need to have a good time. And I just can't wait til all us Panthers are out on the bleachers cheering on our team. I think we're going to be louder than last year and have lots of Panther spirit. Lets Go Panthers! " -Israel "Izzy" Campenero (10)
Michael Bourbon (10):
Question 1: How do you feel about this years upcoming football season?
Answer 1: I believe that we are going to do great this year. We are a very young team but I believe we have a good chance to do very well this year!
Question 2: How does it feel to be in Varsity football as a sophomore?
Answer 2: As a sophomore on varsity, I'm going to learn from all the upperclassmen and be the best I can be for the team.
"Yeah I think we'll have lots of Panther Pride going on this year because the freshman seem really spirited and of course there's always the seniors. We just need to get the sophomores a little more amped up." -Alina Davila (11)
Let's shine a spotlight on the girls who stand on the sidelines cheering on our athletes. Let's give it up to our cheerleaders! At the scrimmage against Bishop Diego our cheerleaders were there amping up the fans and our football players! Nobody kept score, but it was a great game. “Cheerleader Gabriella Ochoa (10) said "It’s really fun, the coach is great. We all work hard and it’s a fun environment."
"I know I'm excited for the first game. Look at all these people already here for just a scrimmage game. I can just imagine how many people are going to go to the actual games." -Avery Johnson (9)

Panthers Find Their Groove at Back to School Dance
Last Friday, the panthers were dancing the night away at the welcome back dance. The dance was mostly geared towards the freshman, but everyone was allowed to go. Overall the dance was a great success, the music was phenomenal and the dance circles went wild. By the end of the night everyone was happy they came out because they had a blast.

Panther Principals Talk Football as JV Warms Up Against Bishop
Principal Herrera:
Do you think the Jungle is going to be filled up again this season?
"I think because there's no charge for the football games anymore, that really does increase attendance."
What do you expect the Panthers to bring this season?
"I expect the kids will be really rowdy up in the jungle and I'm hoping they do all the fun stuff like streamers and powder. But as long as they're respectful, spirited, and showing good PV sportsmanship everything will be good. I think football season is something that brings the whole school together; It's the cheerleaders, band, color guard, and the students who dress up in Panther attire. It's cool for everyone to feel like they belong here at PV."
Assistant Principal Dickinson:
What do you expect from our football team this year?
"All you can expect from any sports team is commitment and dedication. If they go out to their practices and try their hardest on the turf they will go places they never thought capable. I think that they will be competitive once the league starts up and ready to compete in the playoffs."
Have you seen anyone in particular who has stood out on the team?
"It's too early to tell. I think they're really young from last year. One of the key positions that is new this year is quarterback. We lost a key starter from last year (Rodriguez). So they have a couple new kids who are probably going to go out and compete for that position like Garcia and Tapia. Leo Bartita is a returning player that is one of the key receivers but I think they're really young. They're going to have to use that entire preseason to get ready for the league."
