Tuesday, November 29, the Boys Varsity Basketball team played their first preseason game, hosting Lompoc. The outcome was in our favor, 65-45, with a 20 point difference. Redemption was found this season by the Panther’s, Lompoc may have defeated us this past football season, but this positive start to the upcoming basketball season gives the student body a sense of faith and team spirit. Good job and good luck for this upcoming season, Panthers!
What do you believe your team done differently this game? Do you think your communication helped? And how do you expect this season to turn out?
Salvador Villa (11)
“What we did differently this game is we played hard and never really lost focus. Our mind was on winning, playing our hardest, and playing together for each other to come out with the win. We had a lot of communication which led to some good defense and there wasn’t too much selfishness. If we play like we did today this season, but better we are history in the making this upcoming season we have a lot of talent and a lot of guys who want to win.”
Marcus Riconose (12)
“The team tonight displayed great teamwork, we worked together on offense and defense. We came together and gave it our all, playing as hard as we could. I expect high things this season I believe we can finish in the top 4 of our league and when we get this train started I believe we’ll be an unbeatable team as long as we work together and put all our differences aside.”
Leo Partida (12)
Aggressiveness and fast tempo! We were in their face the entire game. Communication was a big factor in the game and last night we were playing as a team, and when we play as a team, we are a team that is very hard to stop.
David Martinez (11)
I think that this game we played harder than we ever have. And sure, communication on defense and offense is very important and I believe that. Our intensity led us to winning, I think. This season- as long as we keep up the defensive power and connection- we will be fine. I think it is very possible that we will make CIF this year as long as we continue to get closer as a team on and off the court and make sure we have good sportsmanship.

On the first day of Thanksgiving Vacation Mrs. Wehlander loaded up a bus with her Band and Color Guard and headed to Cal State Fresno for "Band Day". This is an event that invites high school bands to come and "be a Bulldog for a day" and see what it would be like to attend FSU and play in their Bulldog Marching Band.
"We got to watch the BMB practice a little before our rehearsal with them started. That was incredible! They are so good, I have no words!" Said PV junior Jovany Medina. "And we got to see Henry!!!" (PVHS Band grad who attends FSU and is in the BMB)
"The campus is beautiful and the stadium is gigantic! It was a little scary being on that field playing for halftime, but fun at the same time!"
Mrs Wehlander commented " We had a fantastic day at Fresno State today! The kids are terrific and represented PV with such PRIDE, I look forward to bringing another bus load full again next year!"
Over 1,000 band members from the Central Valley participated in the event, with PVHS traveling the furthest distance.

ACTIVITIES
On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, November 30 – December 2, we will be having a time of saying “You Matter to Me”. This is a time for all Panthers to make individual connections with others, and to give appreciation for each other’s talents and good qualities.
Wednesday, November 30 will be “5 minutes day”. Everyone should wear black.
During this day, Student Council is encouraging everyone to have 5 minute conversations with people they do not know – and to post a picture with their new friend on the PVHS Twitter page.
Thursday will be “Lollipop Compliments”. Gray is the clothing color of the day, and Student Council will be stocking a table with lollipops and blank notes. Everyone will be able to write a note to someone, attach it to the lollipop and give it to someone to make their day!
Friday, December 3, will be “Sticky Note Station” rally day. Please wear white clothing.
We will have a “You Matter to Me” rally that day, and everyone will be able to contribute to a “sticky note” poster to show love and appreciation to others.
