Issue 68 vol. 2

Mr. Noel was born here in Santa Maria and grew up in Orcutt. He went to Righetti High School and graduated in 2007. The reason why he is currently coaching Varsity Boys' Wrestling is because they got him to work through school. He wanted to give back to the sport that helped him so much. He also mentioned that he played football and was a running back and a line backer. He played all four years when attending at Righetti.  He also was an All League football player. During his first year working at PV he coached for Frosh Football.

After high school, he attended Cal State Fullerton where he continued wrestling and majored in kinesiology. In 2012, he graduated from Cal State Fullerton. When he was growing up, he was the type of student who would turn in his work and would be very interested in sports. The reason why he is currently teaching for our Panther Pack, coaching the wrestling team and frosh football, was to teach something new and teach people who are interested in wrestling to be a part of our wrestling program. Clearly, he is doing an amazing job doing it and will continue to further his teachings throughout his career and students' lives.

Lorenz Dodson Reviews Moana

Despite the awful year for movies that 2016 has turned out to be, Disney Animation Studios has ended 2016 on a good note with their new animated princess tale, Moana. The movie follows the story of its titular character on her journey to save her Polynesian tribe and bring balance back to nature. Along the way, Moana (played by Auli’I Cravalho) meets demi-god Maui (played by Dwayne THE ROCK Johnson) together, Moana learns how to be a leader and Maui learns humanity. The film was primarily directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, the same people who directed such classics as The Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid, and Moana stacks up against well.

Overall, the animation was breathtaking. Disney takes full advantage of its 3d software, and the tropical setting offers a wide range of stunning visuals: crystal clear water, sandy beaches, coral reefs, and lively characters. Like most Disney Animation originals, the song selection was excellent (and very catchy ). Moana and Maui’s adventure does not lack in energy, and manages to bring tense and emotional moments as we get to know the characters relationship with each other, their strong suits, and their insecurities.

Moana is a visually elegant film with a great soundtrack and a heartfelt story. This movie is most definitely a banger and a must-see in theatres with family, friends, or even on your own.

ACTIVITIES

On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, November 30 – December 2, we will be having a time of saying “You Matter to Me”.  This is a time for all Panthers to make individual connections with others, and to give appreciation for each other’s talents and good qualities.

Wednesday, November 30 will be “5 minutes day”.  Everyone should wear black.

During this day, Student Council is encouraging everyone to have 5 minute conversations with people they do not know – and to post a picture with their new friend on the PVHS Twitter page.

Thursday will be “Lollipop Compliments”. Gray is the clothing color of the day, and Student Council will be stocking a table with lollipops and blank notes.   Everyone will be able to write a note to someone, attach it to the lollipop and give it to someone to make their day!

Friday, December 3, will be “Sticky Note Station” rally day.  Please wear white clothing.

We will have a “You Matter to Me” rally that day, and everyone will be able to contribute to a “sticky note” poster to show love and appreciation to others.
