Issue 67 vol. 2

Yesterday, several of our panthers went out and donated pillows and blankets that they made to the homeless. Their full intention was to help out the community and help the homeless since winter is coming up. Each student who participated has put a lot of time and effort to finish this big project. They have started this project early in the school year and are planning on starting a new project soon.

"We made pillows and blankets for the homeless. It was fun helping out the community. We thought that this was a very good idea. We also thought that this would make the people very happy especially since winter is coming up and they need something warm during the winter. This was a group project that we had in class and it was a class idea. We planned this in our clothing and fashion class during 6 and 7 period. During class time we would work on this project."

"We started this project in the beginning of the year by talking about how we could help our community. That’s when we decided to do pillows and blankets to donate to the homeless shelter. My 3 clothing and fashion classes which is 75 students in total and as well as the FH Hero club. They are the ones who payed for most of the stuff also Joann's gave us a percentage off and Beverly's gave us some fabric because it costed about 500 dollars for everything. We did 50 pillows and 28 tie blankets. I really enjoyed being a part of this I think its great that my students are willing to donate their time. Its one of the earlier projects that we started and the fact that their willing to do this and then just donate it to the community is just amazing and I'm really proud. Now they are wanting to make beanies for the new born babies and cancer patients at Marian Medical Center. They are definitely looking forward to doing more community service." -Mrs. Montanez

"Mrs. Montanez challenged her students to come up with an idea on how to give back to the community and this was one of their ideas which was to make blankets and pillows and then she brought the idea to me as the advisor of the FHA Hero club and I said well we've got the funds so we have money that we can give you to get material and supplies and be able to make those things and donated them and so we've been working together to do that. I think it's an awesome thing to do, that’s one of the objectives of this club is to have the students take on community service projects and so this fit in perfectly for that. So this is our fall community project and in the spring we will do another one which is yet to be determined."  -Mrs. Crusan

Panthers Brave the Bee

"This is the fifth year Pioneer Valley High School has been apart of the spelling bee. We always have at least two teams and although our PVHS team didn’t win a trophy this year our teams stayed in until the final few rounds. I'm very proud of them." -Ms. Davis

Fall Rally is the major event in Key Club. The event happened November 12th at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Key Clubs from all over Southern California, Southern Nevada, and some parts of Hawaii attended Fall Rally. Fall Rally is an event where Key Clubbers come to show their spirit. Key Clubs compete against each other in spirit battles with their own unique chants. These spirit battles are to see who the loudest division is. Our Key Club is Division 29 and has a Griffin for the club mascot. The environment at Fall Rally is full of friendliness, free hugs, and people just trying to have a good time.

"I like the positivity and friendliness from all the Key Clubs around the state. I enjoyed the opportunity Fall Rally gives to meet tons of new people. It’s really cool, every Division has their own unique chant and you get to show case your spirit and creativity and who doesn’t love roller coasters." -Eric Ruiz (Key Club President) (left) (12)

"The most I love about Fall Rally is that all of CNH comes together and has a big celebration for all the hard work and fund raising we did. We also meet a lot of new and interesting people." -Mayra Bautista (Publicity) (11)

"I like the good vibes from all the divisions. Everyone is so kind and loving over there. You get lots of free hugs and get a chance to meet many new people. Fall Rally was a great experience and I hope to go again next year." -Karina Martinez (11)

"Fall Rally is such an amazing event. The atmosphere is full of smiles and hugs. You get to meet divisions from all over California. Not only is Fall Rally an event where Key Clubbers bond but its also where we get to support the Pediatric Trauma Program. Fall Rally is an experience of a lifetime and I urge everyone to join us next year." -Gabriela Martinez (Spirit Coordinator & Treasurer) (11)
