Milinda Parra Memorial Scholarship Benefit

Girl Panthers played their first basket ball game against Santa Maria High School this past weekend. The girls came out to play in honor of Milinda Parra who had a dream of becoming a Varsity basketball player. The first game Panthers won 30-15 which was a pretty good game! There was a lot of team effort and team work which paid off with a big win. The second game they played against Righetti High School and unfortunately they lost 40-15. It was a tough game, but it was good game. All these high school basketball players played with their heart and passion for the game; but most importantly they came out to play in Milinda’s memory and to raise money for Milinda's Scholarship. Lady panthers came out to play and show that their fallen team mate is still with them in spirit.

Hoco Fashion

Homecoming is an important night for students and it's very important for students to wear the perfect outfits. Couples often match colors, for example the guy's tie and the girl's dress; those colors can vary across the dance floor. Make sure to not leave out the crucial things, these dances are a night to make long lasting memories with friends and that special someone in your life. So remember to bust out those dance moves, make sure not to forget your corsage or your boutonniere!

"To homecoming, I am going to wear a black and nude laced dress that I got at Macy's, with some nice black heals. My date is going to wear a slick black suit he got at apple tree." Eddy Lucio & Judith Tesfaye (11)

"We are going to match in a nice grape purple color. My date is going to wear a cute short dress she got at lovingdresses.com and I am gonna wear a slim suit that I got at Casa Blanca."

-Mathew Garcia (11)

"My homecoming date and I are going to match in navy blue. I am going to wear a short dress that I got online at Windsor.com and my date is going to be wearing a suit he got from Apple Tree."

-Letty Medina &

Eric Jimenez (10)

"To homecoming, I'm going to wear a puffy red dress with silver and gold rhinestones that I bought from Casa Blanca. The shoes I will be wearing are going to be silver heals that I bought at Macy's. My hair will be an updo with braids and curl. I will also get smoky eye makeup done at Macy's. My friends and I will be attending the homecoming dance together."

Domestic Violence Rally

At Friday’s lunch-time rally, Panthers demonstrated their support to stop domestic violence. Some panthers wore purple in honor of the event. Share club would like to let everyone know that until October ends, it’s domestic violence week, so they want everyone wear purple and show support to end domestic violence. Some of the share club members gave inspiring poems to let everyone know domestic violence is not right and needs to be stopped just like bullying needs to be stopped also. If you see anyone with signs of domestic violence don’t stay quiet, speak up! That person may appreciate it and thank you later on in life for saving them from further domestic violence. PANTHERS SHOW YOUR SUPPORT AND WEAR PURPLE ALL WEEK. Help us stop domestic violence. Say no to VIOLENCE.

FFA Preps Lambs at PV

Agriculture Teacher Mr. Ponce brought lambs and their mothers to Pioneer Valley in his trailer to be prepped this past Friday. Mr. Ponce works at Peterson Ranch in Nipomo and also works with FFA as a teacher here at PV. He guided students through the prepping process which included vaccinating them, punching holes into their ears to put ear tags for identification, and docking. Docking is the process of removing the unnecessary portion of the tail for; which greatly reduces fly strike (wool maggots). The mothers were also vaccinated and their hooves were clipped. It’s a harmless process, and basically is a Mani-Pedi for the mothers. “I’ve dealt with lambs since sophomore year. They’re small, but will ram you to justice. All the things we do are completely reasonable and almost completely harmless,” says Craig Lodes (12) FFA student.
