SpoooOOooOOky FFA Meeting
In the spirit of the spookiest time of the year, Pioneer Valley’s FFA Chapter hosted its October meeting in the theme of "Dia de los Muertos", or "Day of the Dead". This meeting was held Tuesday, October 18, and the FFA chapter went above and beyond with the festive decorations they used in the cafeteria. Not only were the majority of the attendees painted with sugar skull faces, the entire cafeteria was draped in pumpkins, candy, and cobweb. The overall spirit of the meeting was not out of the ordinary for the FFA here at PV, they have themed meetings every month that are beautifully decorated. If you are interested in this type of festivity, then keep an ear out for the next FFA Meeting in the announcements.
"This meeting was very festive, I was glad to be involved in making it happen. The enthusiasm was great, so I really hope that the next meetings throughout the year have this energy. I also hope that more people join FFA because it is a great organization."–Aaliyah Peinado
-Jordan Gonzales & Xayda Gonzalez
"This meeting was boo-tiful! It’s one of my favorite meetings and time of the year. What made the meeting so fun was the fear factor game that I helped create." – Judith Zavala (12)
"This meeting was pretty great it looks like everyone is having a good time. My face itches because of the paint I have on, but I really liked how we could dress up for Halloween." -Febe (11)
Girls Take Final Swing
As our winter sports roll in, the fall sports come to an end. Our lady panthers have put in their best shot this golf season, putting to their hearts content on the courses they've ventured onto. Now things have come to an end in the greens as our girls gave it their all in the last tournament of the season yesterday at Cypress Ridge in Arroyo Grande against schools such as Righetti, Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo.
"I joined golf because I wanted to start a new passion. I'll be doing it again next year. I love being in touch with the weather and nature and how calm and quiet it is." -Claudia Smith (11)
"I joined golf because I've been playing it as a family sport ever since I was young. Golf teaches you more than just hitting a ball. It teaches you good sportsmanship, dedication, patience, honesty, responsibility, and eye coordination, which all helps you in life as well as to never give up. Yes, after high school, I am going to keep playing golf and get better and better as I grow older. I'm gonna miss playing golf for my school. PV should really know that golf IS a sport and that it's an amazing sport to play and to experience. I'm going to miss it dearly and all the schools that I played with. It's been a hole in one for me." -Jewelle Biascan (12)
I'm bummed out about our only senior leaving. We're going to miss her. She's been a great player for the past four years. Next year, our players will have more experience and will be able to lead the others. It'll be a great year since they are coming back." -Coach Rothford

Overwatch Game Review
-Andres Copado & Ysidro Ramirez
Overwatch is a First Person Shooter made by Blizzard Entertainment. Like most shooters this game has different classes of characters that range from tanks to healers. Every character is unique as they all have different abilities that almost no other characters have and that’s what makes the game fun. The game has no story so we have to focus on the gameplay aspect. There are four classes of characters in the game, the classes are offense, defense, tank, and support. It's recommended that you use at least one of the characters from each class in a match but that doesn’t always happen and that’s one of the negative aspects of the game.
Lobbies, where everyone uses the same character as a joke happens too often. Matchmaking is also an issue since it is skill based matchmaking which can lead to bad matches if you get consecutive win streaks or are friends with people who are very good at the game. One highlight about the game is its weekly brawl which introduces a new game to play for that week only; which is kind of disappointing. Overall, Overwatch is a fun game with some very minor issues.
“Overwatch is a fun game but it makes me rage a lot because of all the try-hards in the competitive game mode.”
-Manny Ventura (12)
“Overwatch is a dead game. If it wasn’t for the waifus and the harambe clone, I wouldn’t play it. I'd exclusively play Paladins. My favorite character is tracer.” Ralph Soria (11)
“I like Overwatch because it's not your typical FPS. It differs from games like COD and Battlefield in the sense it’s not static throughout the game. Overwatch has its own style that really makes the game fun and competitive. I usually play as Junkrat.”- Jaime Ramirez (12)
