JV Panthers Take Down Greyhounds
JV Panthers kicked off Friday night pumped and ready. The Atascadero Greyhounds were tough competition, but our Panthers came out on top winning the game 24-22. "This game didn't go too well at the beginning but at half-time we came together. We needed to win the game and we did." -Adrian Garcia (Running-back)

Football games aren't just about football. Shocking, I know. Panthers put in a lot of work to make that Friday night special. Football players work hard at practices, so they can win for PV. Band also practices the songs until they get it right, Color Guard goes over the routine until they get it perfect, and cheerleaders put in a lot of their time as well. Even if you don't like football, you'll surely enjoy the environment at football games. Students are in the crowd cheering everyone on and are dressed up in school colors with pompoms and glitter. It's a good time that no one should miss. We have three more home games left. Come out and support all your fellow Panthers. You won't want to miss it.
"I've been in cheer for three years now. I enjoy performing in front of a crowd; it's really exhilarating. Cheerleaders bring a lot of hype to the games. I guess you could say we're the hype girls. We've improved a lot over the years and have evolved into a really good team."
-Michelle Ambriz (Varsity Cheerleader, 12)
“I’m a drum major. I lead the band and I conduct them. Band puts in a lot of effort. Last year, we gave out 100%. This year, we’re pushing a little more and giving 110%. We’ve really improved in sound. Even though we’re a small band in comparison to last year, we’re doing really great. Band brings joy and pride to the games. I'm really happy to be apart of it all."

Panthers Subdued by Greyhounds but Put Up Good Fight
It was a tough game on Friday when our varsity Panthers played Atascadero with a score of 14-34. Our Quarterback Matthew Garcia had some stuff to say about his team. "Our sportsmanship is really good, you know. We're pretty hard on each other because we know that we could do better, but we try."
Even though we lost, our band and color guard performed outstandingly. “It’s my first year [as drum major]. I’m just really tired from moving my arms super-fast, it’s fun, though. We did really good and [my team] makes me proud, I couldn’t ask for a better team,” said Drum Major Jovany Medina (11).
Not only did the band do an amazing performance, but color guard also did great. Captain of the color guard Elizabeth Todakee (12) said, I’ve been in color guard for two years and got captain my first year. It’s so much fun; a lot of hard work and dedication is put into [our performance]. I think they’re really hard working and dedicated and up to the challenge.”
Both students and teachers were at the game supporting our team. Economy Teacher Mr. Harmon was at the game selling candy. He said, "[The game] could be fun. I would much rather be dancing, though. Giving the students a hard time [is what I like about being at the game] and I talk with people. I like taking money."

AHC Career Exploration Day
"The exploration day at Allan Hancock College was awesome! The information that was provided was exactly what I was looking for and the people there answered all my questions. I want a career in law enforcement and hopefully become an FBI agent."
–Dulce Garduno (12) left
"Exploration day was pretty interesting. I really liked that we had the chance to go. I'm thinking of becoming an entrepreneur and opening a retail store. I was able to find a lot of information. The people there were very helpful and were able to answer most of my questions."
–Magaly Alvarez (12) right
"I had a great time. It was really fun. It was kind of funny that some people thought I was a student from Hancock. After high school, I want to be a chef and open up my own little Polynesian restaurant.”
–Samson Alipia (12)
Career Exploration Day at Allan Hancock College is a fun and exciting annual event. Every year about 200 PV students meet with other students from various high schools in the area to learn more about the careers they are interested in. For example; architecture, engineering, business, culinary arts, welding, fine arts, and so much more! This past Friday PV students got to talk to industry leaders and found out about special training programs that are offered at AHC. Hancock is considered one of the five best community colleges in California and one of the nation's top 120 community colleges. Even if you are planning on attending a university, AHC should be your plan B! If you have any questions, ask for Ms. Zarate in the college and career center.
"The career day was amazing! I had a great time there. If I had the opportunity to go back again, I would definitely say yes. I want to pursue a career in music production. Most people don’t know that I'm a ranchera singer and I love doing it." –Deysi Chavez (12)

Club Rush Tomorrow!
Every year at Pioneer Valley, we host a Club Rush to give a chance for each of our clubs to present themselves and let everyone know who they are, what they do, and why they do it. This event is a great way to get involved and be welcomed by the opened arms of each club. There are about 40 clubs available at this school; one is bound to fit your interests if you keep an open mind. Tables and kiosks will be set up around the Panther and spread out from the Amphitheater to the English buildings. Remember to bring money, your spirit, and your will, because these clubs will surely reach out to you, and you will have no ability to resist!
"Club Rush is important because this is a time during the 1st semester that all clubs promote themselves and are able to recruit more members. I like having Club Rush to see all the clubs working together within themselves to get more people to join by also utilizing the ability to sell different food items and such." -Candice Corpuz (12)
