The Guys Weigh in on Prom Themes
-Juicetin Toemoss & Lorenz Dodson-Carag
What do you think of this year’s prom theme, and what would you like to see in the future?
Manuel Lopez (12): A star wars themed prom would be lit. More lit than Anakin falling into a lava pit and turning into Darth Vader.
Gabriel Diaz (12): I enjoy the concept of the prom theme ‘Enchanted Forest’, and I’m very excited to see how they present it. A 50’s style or 1930’s style prom would be really cool, and I’d like to see that in the future in though I’m going to have graduated.
Adonay Moreno (12): Enchanted Forest is definitely a trill theme, but where it will look good, however, is another question. See, if done right, an enchanted forest could truly seem otherworldly in a small town dance hall, but it has to be done right. As for what I would like to see for the future, I would definitely love to see a jazz themed prom where they bump old school jazz like Nat King Cole, and new school Jazz like Thundercat and Terrace Martin.
Michael Dulay (12): I guess Enchanted Forest is pretty cool but in the future I think something underwater themed like in Back to the Future would be cool
Senior Graduation Thoughts
-Brendan Lopez
This 2017 year is coming to an end and seniors are wrapping up their high school career. Graduation is a time to reflect on their memories from high school and look forward to the future. What are our senior panther’s thoughts on graduation?
"I feel a little overwhelmed I'm graduating because it seems like everything just came at once after winter break. The months just started passing by really fast. I'm going to miss not having as much responsibility as I'm going to once I start going to college and pretty much just being a teenager." -Kasandra Bright (12)
"I'm excited to graduate, but were headed to another school and that’s kind of scary. For me, I'm headed six hours away. I'm really looking forward to meeting new people and being independent but it's definitely scary. I think I'll miss PV, but more the people not necessarily PV itself." -Juan Rangel (12)
"I feel excited for the future and what's to come and working on the new journey. I'm excited for new challenges life throws at me. I'm going to miss the high school environment and the friendly social place. I'll miss being with friends and people." -Alex Garcia (12)
"I'm super excited to graduate from high school and move on to college. I'm also a little sad as well, because after we graduate, everyone will be on their way on their own paths. I think what I'll miss the most is the familiarity of the campus and everyone around me."
-Candice Corpuz (12)
"The feeling of graduating is like finally having this suffocating sense of woe alleviated from my overwhelming drained soul. This will be cleansing like the Lysol disinfectant wipes in my AP English class--whose sole purpose was to clean the remains and fingerprints of the hot cheeto-eating kids in the period before mine. This represents high school in a nutshell... but inevitably I will have to put on a new backpack that will serve as a burden I will have to carry for the next four years. HORRAY COLLEGIANCE! I will dearly miss Lorenz Dodson."
-Chris Maldonado (12)
Prom King & Queen Rally
-Tina Bulosan & Araceli Flores
Yesterday, we had a rally to introduce our prom king and queen candidates: Vanessa Diaz, Ulises Moreno, Jeremiah Acob, Devon Alexander Fuller, Michael Tapia, Crystal Carbanas, and Carlos Perez. The candidates had the opportunity to introduce their self and why they are running for prom king and queen. They gave us great introductions and why classmates should vote for them. Voting will take place at prom on Saturday, so please vote!
"I am running for prom queen because I want to let everyone know that no matter who you are or who you want to become, it's possible. A gender doesn’t define who you can or cannot be. I believe that confidence is beauty. If I were to win, it would be an honor to be the first LGBTQ queen of this school. No matter the results, we're all kings and queens." Jeremiah Acob (12)
"I'm running for prom queen so I can have something to remember my four years here at high school because I didn't do anything or get involved throughout high school. Vote for me and Uli!" Vanessa Diaz (12), left

"I'm running for prom king because Vanessa asked me to do it and she's my best friend so I said yes. I'm happy I'm running with one of my best friends and I'll remember it forever." Ulises Moreno (12), right

"I am running for prom king because I thought you only get one chance to run for prom king and I want to have fun with it. My friends and classmates support me and I would want everyone else to vote for me."
-Devon Alexander Fuller (12)
"I'm running for prom king because I want something to remember when I graduate. Crystal and I always wanted to do something together. We always wanted to run for something since sophomore year. We were going to run for homecoming, but we though prom would be better." Michael Tapia (12)
Prom King candidate Carlos Perez introducing himself.
"I'm voting for Jeremiah because he expresses how he feels and he does whatever he wants and I think that's great."
