Jocelyn Shines at Mall Art Show

-Jordan Gonzales

Last week, one of the many talented students here at Pioneer Valley was put on the spotlight here at the Panther Tales. If you have taken a trip to the local mall recently, or tuned into the Panther Tales last week, you would know that the Santa Maria Town Center not only hosted an art show for the students of the central coast, but also that a couple of our students were prize winners. Taryn Anaya achieved third place for her Outer Space themed piece in the Design category of the art show, and today another Panther who made a name for themselves at the Art Show will be given the attention that they deserve.

Jocelyn Sandoval has reached the triple threat status as she has reached scholastic excellence, can dance eloquently to the beat of Ballet Folklorico, and now has shown her astounding artistic abilities. Jocelyn made her mark in the Art Show, and acquired 2nd place in the 3D category. Here is what she had to say of her experience:

“I was compelled to put my work in the art show by my art teacher Mr. Paulus. Far from choosing me to simply be a part of the art show, he motivated me to express all of my brilliant ideas on my 3D piece. Although it took a lot of weeks to make and design my face mask, I always found something to improve on it. After being stressed and determined to create a masterpiece, I feel beyond grateful to have received second place in the art show.”

Girls' Varsity Softball Tangles with Tigers

-Araceli Flores & Daniel Rodriguez

Tuesday evening, the girls’ varsity softball team faced off against San Luis Obispo in a tough game. The lady panthers played their hardest, but it wasn't enough. Despite their hard loss, the girls kept their head up. Their last game will be against Righetti and we wish them the best of luck!

"It was pretty exciting at first. It was like nerve wrecking. But then, we could handle it and we picked each other up on the way." -Alyssa Guzman (right)

"Playing my last Varsity Game was pretty cool. I mean I got to play with all my girls that I love and my family. And we get it together and hold it down."

-Aneisia Dollinger (10) (left)

"It feels unreal because it was like these four years has past like really fast. And I would never think that I would be here like at this time playing my last game."

-Celeste Mendoza (12)

"It feels like it went by really fast like I remember freshmen year and now I'm a senior watching all of the senior nights." -Alyssa Murillo (12)
