Boys' Varsity Volleyball Senior Night

-Elizabeth Morales, Brenda Linares & Lauren Limon

On Tuesday evening at 5:30 it was our Varsity boys’ volleyball team Senior night. They went up against Righetti Highschool for their last home game of the season. Even though they lost they still pushed through till the very end. They ended up playing three matches. The first match was 16-25. They made a couple of mistakes, but that did not stop them from quitting. For the second match it was 18-19 and a rally was going back and forth and we ended up getting that point because of Nick, he blocked the ball and put the score at 19-19. Unfortunately they lost that match 19-25. And for the final match they were up 12-10 and then 12-12, but they ended up losing 19-25. Even though they lost they did an amazing job and we are all very proud of them. Good job for an amazing season! And good luck to our five seniors: Erik Ruiz, Emerson Ritualo, Alex Garcia, Michael Dulay, and Jose Aguilera on their journey.

"Sad for it to be the last home game of the season. I wanted to have a different outcome and it is sad that the seniors are going to be leaving. It is the last time that they played in this gym and it is bittersweet. I think we had a little gap between the seniors and the under classmen didn't really gel together and some of the under classmen were probably timid by the seniors. And they have to realize no matter the age group, but if you are on the court were a team and we need to come together. We could have done a little better if we believed in it more, but I wish we had a different outcome, because we had a really good team coming into the season, but I just think they didn't really believe in their own talent. Yes most definitely I will miss my five seniors that will be leaving, it sounds like I am always carping them on things. But I will miss their leadership and I will miss them guiding the younger guys. And it is just sad to see the page turn. This is real where it is real life, because they are going to leave high school and they are going to go to the real world and find a job and go to college. There is a lot of different things that are going to happen and it is a big step. I don't think they really realized it till the last game. I said it from the beginning that it is going to go by fast and here comes the tears and the last time you’re going to play. I think you have to live in the moment and take advantage of the situation you have , which is school and do your best" - Kurt Mahelona

“Every year it is a little difficult, because I know I am losing some people. On the other side it is nice knowing that I will come back and have these other guys that are on the team   that are going to be fighting more harder , because they will know that they are the seniors. And they want to take over the program and make it better, it is bittersweet. They played good they played with heart, and there are some things that they worked on and things that teams go through. But overall they played as a team, and they are a big family. Big bears I call them. They did pretty well this season. I will miss my five seniors that are leaving. I have been with one of them Joey, since I started coaching here at the school so I am going to miss him the most. But all the other seniors, they are good kids and they are going on the right path. I am going to miss all of them" - Ralph Quintana

"For it being my last home game of the season it was bittersweet, you're happy for the moment but nostalgic over it being the end. I thought we did well we improved and we had lots of fun, that's the most important thing in the end. I've played volleyball these last four years. I definitely will miss playing for PV, I've liked working for the school and I've loved the opportunity to represent my school" -Erik Ruiz(12)

"It was a bittersweet moment that I will cherish for a lifetime. Our season didn't turn out the way we thought it would but it mattered that we never gave up and kept pushing. We didn't do as well as we expected but we still had high hopes and kept pushing throughout the season. I've played 3 years but from never playing before in my life and starting sophomore year volleyball I will remember forever. My senior season was the most touching and the most memorable. Overall volleyball has taught me to work hard and to never give up and move forward" - Michael Dulay(12)

"It's a bittersweet feeling playing my last game, I loved the sport, my teammates, my coaches, and I’ll never forget all the memories we had. I think we did well this season, but some games we didn't play to our full potential. I've been playing for 6 years, and I will definitely miss playing for the black and teal" - Emerson Ritualo (12)

Boys' Tennis Defeats RHS

Yesterday afternoon our boys’ tennis team played their final game of the season and did very well, especially considering it being 84 degrees F.

''Our season was good minus not having a full squad, overall I am proud of the boys they gave it their all.'' -Coach Faulk

The Fight for the Beauty of Life

What is the beauty of life

Full of pain for which we fight

In this brutal game called life

We fight for our freedoms

We fight for our lives

We fight the suppression

Of our dreadful drowning depression

Yet this is a part of the beauty of life

Because what is beauty without strife

Though full of sorrow life is beautiful

Because our family and friends

Replace that sorrow with love

They are there for us

When push comes to shove

Until our ditch gets dug

-Justin Thomas
