Best Food Ever!

-Kevon Cabatic

Food!!! Everyone loves food. We are searching for the best of the best straight from the PVHS community. Whether it’s the most expensive food or the most affordable foods there are always those hidden places that prove themselves to be the best. Food has such a huge influence on the way we are throughout the day it is what keeps humans alive, inspires to do work, and encourages us to thrive. What is the greatest tasting food you have ever eaten?

I would say that personally my favorite food is from this place called Umami and they serve high quality burgers with a side of truffle fries. This is literally the best thing to eat. I travel to San Francisco with my friends just to eat it.

Samanth Neri 11- The best food would probably be from itchiban and I usually get the California roll because the quality of the fish and the overall ingredients is just top quality that can’t be compared to anything but the best.

Mr. Hernandez – CHEESE ENCHILADAS at El Compadre at Sun Boulevard is the best because it is all you can eat and I know the owners.

Edrick Rodriguez 10

–The best food I have ever eaten is the Alaskan Roll from Atar-ai. I love that it has salmon on the top with the classic California roll. It is just simple but yet so delicious.

Joseph Ruiz 11 – A burger from in n out is probably the best food I have ever eaten it is the best food because of the fact that its fresh and the sauce they put on the burger is so good.

Cleopatra Garcia – 11 The best food I have ever eaten would have to be clam chowder from splash café. I just love how it has such a creamy taste and the soup just empowers all the others.

Aaron Ardenio 12 - Wendy's 4 for 4 deal is by all means the bombest food ever made in the history of foods.

SHARe Club Rally

-Araceli Flores and Zander Moreno

Throughout this week, PVHS is having a sexual assault awareness week. The reason for this is to prevent and educate the young people about sexual violence and sexual assault. Kathleen Ramos from Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center was at the rally to inform us about the dangers of sexual violence. Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center provide free counseling for everyone over the age of 12 and they are also bilingual, so they can help anyone. If you know someone who is suffering from an abusive relationship or have been sexually assaulted, please report it immediately. The Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center have a 24-hour hotline number (805) 736-7273. For more information visit http://www.sbcountyrapecrisis.org/home.html

"The rally was about raising awareness for sexual assault. It's about denim day and denim day was started through a case that happened in Italy where an 18 year old girl was raped by her 45 year old driver. The driver was convicted, but then appealed so it went to the supreme court and the judge said that she must have consented because she would have had to take off her skinny jeans herself."

"SHARe has really made me more aware of issues such as domestic violence and of course, sexual assault. It taught me to stand up and speak up for a portion of the population that is often silenced or ignored by the overall majority. I felt that the denim day rally went rather well, we had a lot more than before. It seemed that people took interest in the topic that we discussed at the rally (sexual assault). Finally, I would recommend people to join the club; it definitely will inform people on what to do if they're faced with relationship issues or if they know anyone who is going through such dangerous issues (domestic abuse, sexual etc.) plus, it is an activist club so it shows that you're willing to stand up for people," Adonay Moreno, Vice president of SHARe (12).

AP Testing is Coming!

AP stands for advanced placement and testing starts May 1st. If AP students pass this test then they don’t have to take as many classes in college. Are our AP students prepared for testing?

-Breadman Lopez

Q: Do you believe your students are ready for the AP test? "Yes and no. There's just so much to learn in so little time. They have other AP tests to do as well as the junior Star test. There's just so much. I know they’ve come a long way since they first started. I think they're pretty ready." -Mr. Brown (AP English teacher)

Q: Are you ready for the AP test? "I think I feel ready for my AP testing. I'm only taking two this year. I'm taking AP Lit and AP Econ. I think both classes have prepared me very well to take them."

-Candice Corpuz (12)

Q: Do you believe your students are ready for the AP test? "Some yes some no. I've done everything I feel I can to prepare them aas best as possible. Some are prepared than others. I hope they're prepared and do really well. Success on the AP test often comes due to individual determination." -Mr. Dodson (AP History, Hancock U.S. History, and Psychology)

Q: Are you ready for the AP test? "I'm definitely not ready for these four AP tests. It's pretty gnarly that I'm taking four, but I signed up for it and I paid for it. I better get prepared or else it’s a waste of money and time." -Lorenz Dodson (12)
