Teacher Spotlight: Mr. Ryan

-Daniel Rodriguez

Mr. Ryan was born in the European town of Avino Italy, but moved with his family to Lompoc after just a half year. After graduating from Lompoc HS he went to Brevard Community College in Florida. There he earned his AA in welding. After 10 years in the working world, Mr. Ryan returned to school at Santa Barbara Community College where he studied Geography. He then transferred to UCSB where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Science and his teaching credential in geoscience.

Mr. Ryan began his teaching career at Santa Barbara High School. In 2006 he moved to Santa Maria to teach here at Pioneer Valley and start a family. One of the biggest things he really loves besides teaching science is surfing. When Mr. Ryan lived in Florida, he would always bring his boogey board to the beach. In time he advanced to the surf board and has loved it ever since.

What's Your Favorite Pet?

-Diana Valenzuela Garcia

PV is full of people that love dogs, cats, bunnies, etc., but most of the students I interviewed love dogs. I think that dogs are very friendly and they love to play a lot they also have more energy than a human.

"My favorite pet would be a dog because I love dogs and they are my passion. I also love my dogs they are the cutest thing I've ever had and I wouldn’t switch them for anything." -Diana Escobar (9)

"My favorite pet would have to be a dog because they are friendly and loveable. I also love my dog because he's the cutest thing, he's nice and friendly and loves to play with people. He also loves laying on peoples laps even though he's really big and heavy."

-Litzey Domingues (11)

"My favorite pet has to be a dog because they care for you and protect you. I love dogs and I love my dog because she is very nice and friendly and she loves to play with everyone. When we go out to run she stays by my side and doesn’t bark at no one. She's also a very cute husky mixed with a boxer that’s why I love her so much." -Juan Valenzuela (9)

"I love any type of animal because they are all cute. But what I love the most is a dog because they are so cute and adorable. Also because they are the most protective animals in the world. They take care of you more than any other pet." -Andrea Maldonado (9)
