Hannah Montana: Queen of Pop

It is the year 2017. The last of the babies born in the 90’s are about to graduate, over the course of the past almost two decades, we as a generation have acquired a diverse sense of music. The current phase of music we have been listening to comes from artists such as Kodak Black and Gucci Mane. Although the music that comes from these artists are bangers, the true bangers that simply will not and have not been topped are the ones we have grown up with.

Not only is this artist known for having a double life by miraculously switching identities through a wig, she also taught us inspirational life lessons such as nobody is perfect. The woman, the wig, the mystery, goes by the name of Hannah Montana. The album that is most notable of this iconic female’s career, is the Best of Both World’s Concert Album.  This album consists of bops such as Rockstar, Nobody’s Perfect, and Life’s What You Make It. These are all my personal favorites, as they have remained resilient throughout mine, as well as my peers’ upbringing.

Times have changed, and so has our beloved Hannah Montana who hasn’t been seen in the public eye since she transferred to the prestigious Stanford University. It truly is unfortunate that we don’t have this quality music or character these days.

I asked two icons at this school for their opinion on the queen of pop’s music, here is what they had to say.

When you think of Hannah Montana, what comes to mind?

“What comes to mind to me is the story of a girl living the best of both worlds, and just trying to get an education and be a normal girl. She truly is an inspiration!”

Jazmine Chavez

What is the true banger that Hannah Montana has brought to the table?

“I Wanna Know You is the best because I relate to it so much. David Archuleta really sends me on cloud 9 with his voice! Hannah Montana got me through the best of times and the worst of times. She really knows how to encapsulate her audience with her smooth as silk voice.”

Where are You Eating for Prom?

Prom is a special night for high school seniors. Prom has been around since the beginning of the 20th century. Ever since then seniors have been wondering where they plan to eat. Finding a restaurant is one of the most important parts of Prom. Where are our class of 2017 seniors planning on eating?

"On prom night I'm going to Roadhouse with a group of 8 people and we already have our reservations and stuff. We're all super excited because my friend brought a $25 gift card so were going to get stuff on sale." -Breanna Leos (12)

"I'm not sure exactly where I want to go, but I know I want to go somewhere nice and not too expensive but not too cheap. Maybe the Hitching Post and order off that value menu or something."

-Joseph Morales (12)

"We're going to Rosa's in Pismo, because I like Italian food and it's just going to be the two of us. Or I might go to Ventana Grill with my friends, but we don't know yet. I'm really leaning toward Rosa's though. It's my favorite restaurant.' -Julissa Medina (12)

You Did Not Just See That!!

One day at school during an AVID activity we had to be "mummified" in toilet paper and run across the field. As we were running the toilet paper started to fall off my face and my friend was taking embarrassing pictures of me. My face was filled with humiliation and disgust but I think it was a funny and perfect shot. -Yadira Murillo (11)

We have all experienced an embarrassing moment at least once in our lives. One of the worst places for them to happen may be at school. We all want our reputation to remain impeccable. One shameful incident could be enough to make us believe our image has been ruined and people will never see you the same. It's true, some of these shameful moments stick with us forever, but some moments fade away with time.  These moments can be quite awesome because although they may be very humiliating at the time, they may turn into priceless memories. Looking back at those certain memories can bring a smile to your face along with laughter. You're not alone, everyone has embarrassing moments!

What's your most embarrassing in school memory?

"After a fire drill I was walking back to class not really paying any attention and I bumped my head on a pole by the basketball courts. This one kid that saw would always remind me about that embarrassing moment and just laugh at me. It was so annoying." -Bianca Murrieta (12)

"Early in the morning on the first day of school I walked into the wrong class and everyone was looking at me like "What are you doing here?" The teacher then tells me I'm not supposed to be here so I left. That was pretty embarrassing. -Alan Reyes (11)

"My friend watched me break my nose for the second time in 3rd grade when I tripped over my own shoe. It was painful and embarrassing!" –Natalya Speer (12)
