Issue 111 vol. 2

JV, Varsity Girls and Boys Swim

-ZANDER MORENO

Pioneer Valley's swim teams have had two meets so far in the season, individually they have been successful. Mission Prep gave a stellar performance but Pioneer's team doubled in numbers and they proved failure wrong. Varsity and JV dashed under the water to give our school something to celebrate.

Donating; it’s in Your Blood

-Lorenz Dodson & Xayda Gonzalez

PVHS Key Club hosted a blood drive on March 9th. They had a wide range of donating panthers, some were returnees and others first timers. It's for a good cause and it was a great way to give back to the community. "It was my first blood drive, and blood donation, and I felt pretty good knowing that my blood could help someone who needs it. I wanted to donate because it's for a good cause, and pretty easy to do. I'll definitely be donating again the next chance I get!" -Mayra Bautista (11)

"Yesterday was not my first time, so I wasn't really nervous until they couldn't find my vein. The nurse made like 10 holes in my vein. I like donating because I feel good about myself after because someone in need can benefit from me. I'll be donating more often for that reason, and because we get free things (like free food

from Jersey Mikes)" Joseph Morales (12)

"Yesterday was my first time donating blood. I felt like the whole event was for a good cause because it's giving back to the community. My brother has leukemia and I know how to it feels to see a friend or family member in need of blood. Hopefully, people come out next year to donate blood again." Xayda Gonzalez (12)

"It was my first time donating blood. I was very anxious at first and the pain was relatively small, and I was mesmerized by the experience. It was really cool and afterwards I felt a little tired but it did not affect me that much. I came out for the experience and to help others and I'll probably be donating more blood in the future." Andrew Eisner (12)

Spring Sports Rally

-TINA BULOSAN, LAUREN LIMON, MONA GARCIA, KYLIA HARRISON, &  ARACELI FLORES

Last Friday we held our last 2016-2017 all-school rally. This spring rally involved many of our students involved in Spring sports along with the passionate and spirited yells of each class. Monsters' University was the theme which coordinated each class to dress by the color of their fraternities/sororities: Freshmen as Roar Omega Roar (red and gold), Sophomores as Eta Hiss Hiss (black), Juniors as Oozma Kappa (green and gold), and Seniors as Slugma Slugma Kappa (blue and purple).

Spring sports teams as well as performances by our color guard team, Teen Star finalist Daniel Geiger, GSA, cheerleaders, and Asian Pacific all created this event to be perhaps the best of this schoolyear. Being that this was the last all-school rally of this schoolyear, seniors were hit by the thought of graduation in only 3 months. This rally really hyped up our Panthers and was certainly not a disappointment to anybody.

"I think our last all-school rally went well! Considering the fact that it was our last one, I think it went very well. The performances were good and filled up the time precisely. It was nice to showcase our spring sports before the year ends. Our rally commissioners planned this rally beforehand and I was content with how they managed to put everything together!" -Candice Corpuz (ASB President)

"It went really well! It was bittersweet walking into the gym for the alst time. I throw discs and shot-put for the track team. My favorite part of the rally has got to be Asian Pacific's performance!" -Miguel Guardado (12)
