South Coast Regional FFA Officer Team Screening
Recently three students ran for a chance to be a part of next year’s South Coast Regional FFA Officer Team. This major event consisted of a two day screening process which started on Sunday February 26th at Templeton high school then continued Monday the 27th at Cuesta College. The students that interviewed were Gloria Contreras, Yadira Barrera, and D.J. Claborn. At the conclusion of the interviews two PV students earned the right to move on to the next phase of the selection process in King City. Yadira is slated for the opportunity to be selected for next year’s Vice president and D.J. is slated to compete for the opportunity to be next year’s treasurer. These students will have to polish their speeches for the big night on March 24th in King City!

PV Volleyball Takes the Win Over Saints
-Elizabeth Morales & Jordan Gonzales
Last night our Varsity Boys’ volleyball team played against our rival team Santa Maria High school. The boys won the first match 25-12. The second match was intense it was 24-24 and they have to win by two in order to win the match. Then the score was 25-25. PV won the match 27-25. Sophomore, Nickolas Equihua #8 tipped the wining point to win the match. The third match PV won 29-27. The boys’ varsity only went up to three matches because they won all three. If they would have lost one they would have had to keep on going up to five matches. They did an amazing job for it being their first game. Good Luck to our boys’ Varsity volleyball on their rest of the season.
"I feel that we did well, we just need to improve and learn from our small mistakes. I think we will do well this season if we set our minds to it and keep learning and learning. In the areas where we can improve, it’s just knowing what our positions are and doing our jobs." - Angel Garcia (11)
"I thought we did really well for it being our first game. Obviously there were some jitters but overall a great effort. I think we are going to have a lot of fun this season. We'll see how we do with the wins and losses, I try not to worry about what's going to happen in the future. We need to start hitting the ball harder, our guys just need to have more confidence in their abilities, but I'm excited and I'm looking forward to being with these group of guys"- Erik Ruiz (12)
"The team played well today. Since it was our first game of the season we were rusty, but we maintained focus throughout and adjusted to not making the same mistake twice. I'm really excited for this season! It's very promising because this team has great chemistry and heart for the game. Like every team, each player has individual things they can work on, and as a team it would be to better our communication to be more efficient" -Joey Aguilera(12)
"I think the season is going to progress very well. Our younger kids are going to get a lot of experience playing a higher level of play that they are expected to play at. Next year when they come back as a senior team we will be one to be messed with. My kids played amazing and I am very happy of the way they performed and we do have a lot of little things to tweak and perfect. Close games are always nerve racking, you never know which way it is going to go but our guys prevailed and we got the win and I am very happy with the way it came out" -Coach Ralph
"I feel that today we communicated well and did good as a team. I feel that we will improve much more as a team and go far through the season. I feel that we could improve in communication, not when we talk to girls, but on the court with each other" -Craig Raegan (11)
"I think we did well today, but it could have been better. We need to stay focused in the game and not mess around too much. I believe that we will do great this season because we have great chemistry. One area we need to improve in is communication. I feel like myself and a few other people are the only ones talking" -Emerson Ritualo(12)
