Round Table Athlete of the Week Nominees
-Tina Bulosan
This week for The Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table Athlete of the Week nominees, 7 of our Panthers were nominated and invited to Giovani's pizza parlor in Orcutt to celebrate. Taylor Burns, Matt Garcia, Michael Bourbon, Sal Villa, Jayden Jones, Lupita Aranda, and Patty Rubiowere were recognized for their dedication and hard work towards their sport. This week the award went to LeAndrew Knight and Brittney McCune both Cabrillo HS basketball players. Check back next week to see your fellow Panthers acknowledged for the sport that they love and are passionate about! Congratulations you 7! You deserve it!
"I play quarterback for our football team, forward and guard for basketball, and pitcher, 1st base, and 3rd base for baseball. The passion I have for all these sports is because of my family and to be a role model for my little brother. I also do it for my two brothers, Justin and Ivan and also my sister Milinda. I would like to get a scholarship and take my talents further into the college level in any sport." -Matt Garcia (12, 2nd to the left)

"I play basketball, and I'm an SG. I have a passion for basketball because I just love to play the game. I think I deserved to be nominated because I was working really hard. Yes, I have a lot of interest because it's what I love to do and it feels pretty good."
-Sal Villa (3rd to the left)
"I play soccer and I play both center midfield and forward. Ever since I started playing, my passion for soccer has grown more and more. I believe I deserved to be nominated because I am always positive and I believe in all my teammates that we have the opportunity to make history at PVHS. My future goal is to continue playing soccer and I am hoping/willing to play for college. I feel very great to be recognized for this because it is towards something I love doing." -Patty Rubio (12, left)

"I play soccer and I am both a forward and midfielder. Ever since I was small, I've always had a passion for soccer and it has continued to grow. It has taught me many values that are essential in being successful in the future. Patty and I were nominated for our hard work and pushing our teammates to play at their highest potential." -Lupita Aranda (12, right)
ADDICTION TO A NEW YEAR
to my ex partner:
today I cut out
your painting from
my canvas.
it might seem over-
dramatic and childish,
but you do not deserve
the idea of a filled space,
even if my heart was full
of you.
blank canvas can have
more character than you.
I might not have cut it
out perfectly, not because
my hand shook because
a rigid person should make
rigid work.
you have a messy touch,
and a scandalous fear
for the love that I gave you.
find someone else to use
in the new year.
