Girls' Wrestling Senior Night
Last Night our Varsity girls went up against Nipomo, Santa Maria, Lompoc, and Righetti High school. It was our seniors’ last home match. They did an excellent job and pushed through to the end. They have come a long way to get to where they are. Good Job to our Varsity girls wrestling team for a great season.
"I'm going to miss the most is probably the bond I have with my teammates and the motivation we have when one of us is wrestling they're basically family to me." -Chrystal Martinez
"The thing that I'll miss the most is going to the tournaments and having Coach IIac yell at me in the corner and having the best feeling in the world after winning and getting my hand raised"
-Malina Bourbon
"The thing I'm going to miss most about wrestling is all the memories I have with all my Family! Wrestling has honestly changed my life. I would say Mr. IIac would be the person I will miss the most. He has been like my second dad and has pushed me to be the best I can be.These past four years have been great and I'm so glad I decided to wrestle" -Carolina Malina
"I think our season has gone pretty well so far. We are probably ranked 4th or 5th in Southern Section in CIF which is not bad for the young team we have this year. I think we are good and getting better every week. I believe we have an outside shot of getting a championship. We just have to put all the pieces together, which is going to happen in the next couple of weeks. I'm pleasantly surprised where we are at right now and looking forward to the next couple of weeks of better wrestling as we move forward." -Coach IIac

Mexico:
it gave me life,
a culture, and
a gold plated
metal of "congrats!
you're not
entitled."
i melt candles into
figures of my past,
reincarnated into
a butcher's meat
cleaver.
the smell of rice
and beans, the
steam of a lively
old man whose
white washed
pants propped him
up in the morning.
i lived in Mexico
for 2 years, before
the rag i called my
father, he tore
my tendons from
his loud powerhouse
voice.
it shook buildings, even
if i do not remember
the markings on my
mother's face.
"it's a toxic thing",
i told myself.
she punished me but
not like any one else,
because "ill never do
it again", is such
a forgetful phrase.
